The LUCID Ensemble has officially been reorganized as The
Nucleus Ensemble. Performances for Fall 2007 through Spring 2008 will be
announced shortly. While the Nucleus Ensemble website is under construction,

Congratulations to Daniel
Wohl of New York, NY, who is the winner of the 2007 C3 Competition. Ryan
Carter of Port Jefferson, NY was given an Honorable Mention.
This year there were 70 entries in the competition.

May 25, 2007 - The Definiens
Project would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2006 - 2007
season a success! We could not have accomplished so much without the

The Tonoi Concert originally scheduled for May 21, 2007 in Palm
Springs will be rescheduled for a new date TBA in Summer 2007.

The Definiens Project is pleased to announce that the April 23
at the Jazz Bakery will be the CD release concert for the new album
as well as the public unveiling of the identity known as Red Velvet.
Tickets are $20, $45 for VIP seating and a signed copy of the CD.

2007 - The Definiens Project would like to announce
that its March 7 workshop at UCLA is open to the public. This
workshop will focus on the works written by UCLA composers for
the LUCID ensemble and will take place from 7pm to 10pm at Schoenberg
Hall.

The Definiens Project is happy to announce that the exciting cross-genre
duo Red Velvet will be replacing
the Eclipse Quartet for the April Crescent Series concerts in Culver

Duo would like to thanks all those who attended our season
opening concerts this week and everyone who helped to make
them a success. We are looking forward to more wonderful concerts

15, 2006 - In keeping
with our mission to bring unique and accessible chamber music
experiences to audiences both accustomed and new, the Definiens
Project announces the formation of its two core performing
ensembles, LUCID and Tonoi.
The two ensembles will be responsible for presenting the same
innovative and exciting concerts our audiences are used to
hearing, as well as reaching new audiences through outreach
and original performance concepts.
September 19, 2006 - The Definiens Project is delighted
to announce three exciting local chamber ensembles that will
be presented on the 2006 - 2007 Season Crescent Series.
The Eclipse Quartet, the Orion
Winds, and the Zick Trio.

2006 - The Definiens Project would like to announce the
winner of our first annual Composition Commission Competition. While
there were many compositions that we found to be excellent, we have
selected Paul
Reale as our winner. We would like to thank everyone for their
entries.
July
13, 2006 - The Definiens Project announces a call for innovative
chamber music ensembles. As part of the Crescent performance
series (which will include performances in two locations, Culver
City and Long Beach), we will be presenting between 2-5 local
southern California chamber ensembles. We are searching for ensembles
that employ multi-disciplinary elements into performance and/or
perform music that crosses from the classical into other genres.
Each ensemble will be compensated $600 for the two performances.

July 13, 2006 - The Definiens Project is happy to announce
the formation of a second performance series for its 2006-07 season.
In addition to continuing the Crescent performance series based
in Culver City, we will be partnering with Koo's Gallery in Long
Beach to present the same series in the Koo's Gallery space. For

July 10, 2006 - The
Definiens Project is pleased to announce a newly confirmed two-year
residency with UCLA. As part of this residency, The Definiens Project
will be working with student composers and student artists from other
disciplines to create a multi-disciplinary work to be performed in
the spring of 2007 and 2008 (respectively). More information on this
residency will be available in the near future.
June 15, 2006 - The
Definiens Project would like to welcome as one of its core ensembles
The Tonoi Ensemble. This ensemble will be one of two core ensembles
that will represent our organization for the 2006-07 season. For

June 1, 2006 - There
has been an amazing response to our first annual Composition Commission
Competition. The review panel will be evaluating compositions throughout
June and July, and we will decide upon a winner by early August,
2006. We would like to thank all composers who entered for their
participation.
March 12, 2006 - As
part of its dedication to the performance of innovative, contemporary
chamber music, The Definiens Project announces its first annual Composition
Commission Competition. The winner of this competition will, for
the sum of $500, be commissioned to write a piece for The Definiens
