HARD COPY SUBMISSION
GUIDELINES:
1. Include
with application full scores (in any form: paper, electronic
PDF, etc.) for each work submitted.
2. The work may be for any instrumentation using between
3 and 10 performers.
3. All works submitted must be unpublished, but may have
been performed previously. A recording (or MIDI realization) of
the work must be included.
4. The composer’s name must NOT appear on the score
or recording. The score and recording should be identified by a
nom de plume. A sealed envelope containing the complete application
form must be attached to each score.
5. Jointly-written compositions will be considered as
one entry. If a jointly-written composition wins, the cash prize
will be divided equally. For the commissioned work, the winners
may chose to work together on the commission or to write separate
pieces.
6. All applicants must certify on their entry form that
the work submitted is, to the best of their knowledge, an original
work. Further, the composer must certify that the work is unpublished.
7. The application packet should have: 2 scores of each representative
work, marked with a nom de plume; a recording of each work (CD format)
marked with a nom de plume; and an envelope with the nom de plume
on the outside (enclosed: entry form, bio, list of works, and check
for $10/work).
8. All works not meeting these requirements will be rejected
without recourse.
9. Past winners are not
eligible to apply.
10. The decision of the C3 judges will be final. Only
finalists will be notified. The Definiens Project reserves the
right to divide the award money or to decline to make an award.
The cash prize will be awarded when The Definiens Project receives
the newly commissioned work.
11. Scores and recordings will
not be returned. Please do not include a return envelope with your
application packet.
